SCHOOL THRIFT SOCIETY
St. Joseph’s Convent Secondary School runs a school thrift co-operative for all students from Form 1 to Form 5. The aim of this co-operative is to develop good saving habits among students, to educate them about co-operative principles and practices and to enhance their skills of leadership, co-operation and decision-making.
To become a member of the school co-operative, students must begin with $5.00 which will go towards the following:
Registration fee $1.00
Pass Book $1.00
Ledger Card $1.00
Savings $2.00
In addition, students will be required to make a regular savings one day of each week.
The SJC school thrift society has become a member of the St. Lucia Teachers’ Credit Co-operative (SLTCC). Students who save with their school co-operative are eligible to become members of the SLTCC upon graduating from their school. Hence, all students who are saving will have an opportunity to become a member.
